Many second home buyers flock to the Tucson Foothills at this time of year to enjoy our sunny winter weather and to find the perfect second home. Condos are a popular choice for second home owners, and with the proliferation of Condo developments in the Tucson Foothills in the last few years, there is a lot to choose from.
Condominiums are popular because they're relatively inexpensive, involve very limited maintenance responsibility - everything beyond your four walls is the responsibility of the HOA - and they're usually smaller and therefore less expensive to buy and furnish, and easier to care for. Convenience is a big factor in their appeal.
In the developments listed below, condos are available from 1 to 3 bedrooms, that are about 700 sf to 1300 sf, and from about $130,000 to $300,000.
I particularly like the three condo developments listed below, because in addition to being very nicely done, each of them is in a location in the Tucson Foothills that offers something special.
Canyon View at Ventana Condos; at the eastern end of the Foothills, Canyon View is very privately located high in the Foothills just north of Ventana CC. This is a resort-like residential area that's surrounded by views of the Catalina Mountains, towering Saguaros and a beautiful lush desert environment.
The Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, the Ventana Canyon CC and golf course, Sabino Canyon, walking and hiking trails through the Catalina's are all nearby. Outdoor recreation at your doorstep.
Skyline Villas; adjacent to the north edge of La Encantada shopping plaza at Campbell Ave and Skyline Dr, the new crossroads of the Foothills and a very happening area, Skyline Villas is a hop-skip from all the new shops, restaurants, and galleries that have sprouted in that area recently. Yet once you're in Skyline Villas it feels private, quiet and away from it all.
The Villas at Hacienda del Sol; located at the southern edge of the Foothills, The Villas are part of the big new development that's been taking place along the Rillito River just east of Campbell Ave along River Rd. With it's location along the Rillito River, and the type of development that's happening here, there's a bit of an urban feel to this area, and it's attracting a younger crowd. And from The Villas, you can just step out your door and walk, jog or bike along the Rillito riverwalk, or stroll down to St Phillips Plaza or Joesler Village for lunch, dinner and shopping. It's very special and a somewhat different environment than is typical for the Foothills.
