Other than to point out the occasional short sale or foreclosure property that pops up in the Tucson Foothills, and offer my opinion of the asking price and opportunity, I haven't written much about in's and out's of pursuing short sales and foreclosures. And that's because I haven't handled a foreclosure or short sale transaction, so I don't have much to offer in terms of real street knowledge on that topic.
And happily, short sales and foreclosures are a very small part of the market here in the Tucson Foothills, so though it's a hot topic elsewhere, it's only been of passing interest here.
But I imagine some of you are interested in these bank owned or controlled properties. If so, Jay Thompson, a Phoenix broker and author of The Phoenix Real Estate Guy did a terrific post on short sales and foreclosures that may help you decide which, if any of these offerings, you want to get involved in -
Short Sales and REOs from the Buyer’s Perspective
And be sure to check out the links and comments to the post, many of them from Realtors who've been there-done that.
