by the side of a busy road. This is road kill and we’ve had more than our share of it in the foothills in the years since the boom went bust. And Hacienda del Sol Rd has seen more road kill than any road I know of – with builders slapping up homes on cheapo roadside lots.
This one, on the market 2+ years, started out at $879,000 and sold today for $547,000 ($166/sf) as a short sale. That’s for a 3300 sf house completed in 2007, which they probably started planning for in 05, when you could sell ice to the Eskimos and make a good living.
But there is a bright side to it. Because while the builders/investors in these roadside haciendas took a serious bath, the buyers, who could not otherwise afford such a home, were now able to.
